S'mores and Surf

Unzipping your tent to a view of the waves is every surfer’s dream. During the height of summer, who wants to be battling the traffic and parking restrictions when you could stay right amongst it. Forget all that stress and book yourself in to one of these family-friendly campsites which promise to give you stress-free proximity to some great waves for both you and the kids.
 
Just a short stroll to the beach, and perfect for Rhossili and Llangennith, this campsite is a haven for water-sports enthusiasts. Nestled between the beach and farmland, this is a lovely spot to watch sunsets and even has a playground for the kids on site.
A quiet family run campsite with spectacular views over St. Ives bay. A 300-metre stroll will take you down to Gwithian beach which is home to some consistent, quality waves which are suitable for all levels. 
A stunning spot on the Pembrokeshire coastline, Newgale campsite offers a springboard to get to multiple surf spots, depending on the wind and swell conditions.  It’s opposite the beach and even has a well-reviewed pizza van which produces some delicious food. 
The home of surfing in South Devon, Bantham Beach offers a great wave for all levels. It is undoubtedly a beautiful spot, edged by woodland and flanked by the river mouth. This basic campsite is a 5-minute drive from the beach but BBQs and fires are permitted - which is quickly becoming a rarity in the camping world – perfect for those post-surf gooey s’mores to keep the kids happy.

As a stand-up paddle boarder, being able to paddle straight from your tent provides a real sense of liberation from the stress of modern life. If you’re looking for a spot where you and the family can put your car keys away and truly get back to nature, then why not explore these idyllic sanctuaries.
 
Situated on the River Wye, this campsite guarantees easy access to one of the most scenic river paddles in England. Nestled amongst an apple orchard in Preston on Wye, this campsite is relaxing with knowledgeable owners who are more than happy to offer advice.
If paddle boarding in beautifully clear open water is your thing, this Llyn Peninsular campsite in North Wales if a must try. With its own private track down to Rhosgor Beach and only 2 miles from Porthdinllaen Beach, it is a fantastic base from which to explore a number of breath-taking routes.
If you and your family are beginners, this could be the place for you. This lakeside campsite in Dorset offers safe activities for all the family with the main aim of allowing all its visitors to relax. Don’t have your own boards? You can rent them here or even join in with some SUP yoga! This campsite has the added bonus of being close to many of the spectacular beaches of the Jurassic Coast, so when you’re feeling a little braver you can practise your expertise in the open sea.
This pop-up campsite is a less well-known gem in the heart of the South Hams countryside. Just a 5-minute drive to the paddle-boarding haven of Mothecombe Beach, this camp spot is unspoilt and peaceful. You can even enjoy the added bonus of award-wining food at the School House which offers Italian-inspired grub with sea views.
